Hi John,

In April of 2010, then-President Barack Obama nominated me to be a U.S. Attorney for Colorado. 

It was an honor to be nominated and after being unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate, I got right to work. 

I pursued cases that helped return billions of dollars to American taxpayers, from bringing a case against Citibank for its role in the Great Recession to pursuing legal action against pharmaceutical companies intentionally harming people through painkillers.

It was a job I took great pride in; my time as a U.S. attorney was one of the proudest eras of my law career. That’s why it means so much to me that today, former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, and former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick are joining this campaign. 

My entire career has been focused on my commitment to public service, and like these four leaders, I share a common vision when it comes to Denver’s criminal justice system, one that prioritizes public safety, community engagement, and evidence-based solutions.
