The 60-day legislative session is in full swing — and the extremism on display from the Republican supermajority shows exactly why it’s so important we flip HD 106.

 

During these 60 days, our State Senators and Representatives head to Tallahassee to debate and pass legislation. 

 

But instead of fixing the insurance crisis, the affordable housing crisis, or any number of REAL issues, Republicans are bringing us more of the manufactured culture wars that do nothing to solve problems facing everyday Floridians.

 

Here’s a brief list of what Republicans are prioritizing:

 

  1. Sweeping attacks on the freedoms of LGBTQ+ Floridians 
  2. Requiring insurance companies pay for “conversion therapy” but refusing to expand Medicaid or lower your insurance premiums
  3. Rolling back waiting periods to purchase high-capacity guns and other safety measures passed after Parkland
  4. Easing restrictions on child labor while attacking our unions

 

Unfortunately, we know our current Representative isn’t going to fight for us — Fabian Basabe has lied to voters, ignored our voices, and helped the GOP enact a radical right-wing agenda.

 

We need a leader who will make OUR voices heard in Tallahassee and be a champion for Miami-Dade in the State House. 

 

That’s why I’m running for State Representative in District 106.
