FROM THE FRONTLINES

Decision expected soon on Dakota Access Pipeline challenge

Our fights go forward, with some adjustments for the pandemic. Earthjustice attorney Jan Hasselman delivered a powerful argument over the telephone on behalf of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe this week as part of our long-term effort to shut down the Dakota Access Pipeline. The notorious oil pipeline crosses the Tribe's ancestral lands and poses a significant risk of an oil spill. Read more:

Restoring our rivers

The science is clear. Removing the four Lower Snake River dams could bring back million-strong salmon runs, benefitting sport, commercial, and tribal fishing communities, and helping starving orcas who depend on the salmon. We have an opportunity to ask for a plan that reimagines how the river can work for everyone. Read More:

Major victory for Alaska's trees and for the climate

QUOTABLE

"While it is impossible to forecast the future, we can anticipate that attacks on the environment, our bedrock laws, science-based governance -- and the rule of law itself -- will continue. And whether we are working from office desks or kitchen tables, we will be doing what we do best: challenging lawlessness and pushing relentlessly for solutions that will protect people and the planet, now and for the future."
-- Earthjustice president Abigail Dillen on the organization's continued commitment to our mission amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Bring back our rivers, and we bring back our salmon
The agencies that oversee the four Lower Snake River dams just released a draft plan that fails in its mandate to help recover endangered salmon and steelhead. We need you to tell them this is not acceptable if we want to pull orcas and salmon back from the brink of extinction:

Demand the transition to 100% clean energy
The 100% Clean Economy Act of 2019 would ensure everyone benefits from our transition to a clean energy economy. Urge your member of Congress to co-sponsor this important piece of legislation:
