Dear Friend,
The U.S. Senate is at last taking steps to hold Big Tech accountable for facilitating the sexual abuse and exploitation of children online. The CEOs of Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, Discord, and X will finally have to answer for the criminality that has been allowed to run rampant on their platforms in a hearing held by the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 31, 2024.
NCOSE has assisted the Senate Judiciary Committee in preparing for the hearing and will be hosting an online briefing on January 30. Please see the invitation below:
#BigTechBS: How Tech Lies About Platform Safety, Potential Fixes, and the Needs of LGBTQ+ Youth.
Background Briefing for 1/31 Senate Judiciary Tech CEO Hearing
We invite you and your colleagues to attend an online issue briefing to explain how tech platforms, including Discord, Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) are knowingly facilitating the sexual exploitation of children online. These platforms have spread misinformation about important child protection legislation – despite the fact that polling shows overwhelming bipartisan support for these bills.
Survivors and subject matter experts will explain more at an online briefing on January 30 at 1:00 PM EST.
Featured Speakers include:
Dawn Hawkins, CEO, National Center on Sexual Exploitation
Michael Soto, Chief Advocacy Officer, One Community
Aaron Crowley, Author, Bought With a Price
