Hi Friend,
January is Glaucoma Awareness month, and we want you to meet Dr. Jamie Brandt, an awesome Orbis Volunteer Faculty member and pediatric glaucoma specialist from UC Davis.
For children especially, Dr. Brandt says it’s important to reach them early so they can have healthy development.
"In the first few years of life, the connections between the eye and the brain are being made, and you have a critical period during which if you don't intervene to let them see better, you've lost the opportunity for them to develop the brain to a point where they can actually see.
That's part of why I'm so passionate about working on pediatric glaucoma around the world. It's the impact you have. You can literally save a lifetime of vision.”
Dr. Brandt joined Orbis so he could help others who don’t have access to the same kind of training and resources he did, sharing his skills and expertise in under resourced communities.
Thanks to your generous support, Orbis is making a difference in preventing and relieving Glaucoma around the world. Learn more about our work and the impact you are making here >>
