John—

This has been a week of unprecedented uncertainty for all of us.

While the path forward is unfamiliar, the strength of the American Immigration Council has always been in our ability to meet the needs of any moment. Our legal, policy, research, and communications work moves forward—and like you, we will adapt to meet this new moment.

The Council is deeply concerned about what the pandemic means for immigrants in proceedings, in detention, and asylum seekers at our border. In response, the Council has:

Our nation is only as healthy as its people. The Council is calling on our leaders to do all they can to protect and care for everyone—regardless of immigration status.

We know America can rise to meet this challenge, just as we have in the past. Sometimes it’s the darkest hours that remind us how much we need each other. I take heart in the many ways that neighbors are caring for one another and the courage of our first responders and healthcare workers.

Watching our nation come together to fight coronavirus gives me hope that we will be stronger and more unified after this difficult time—with a renewed sense of shared destiny that will propel us to find collaborative solutions to our country’s challenges.

Thank you for being part of our community. Stay strong and well.
