Yesterday, Gov. Abbott made clear in a statement that the federal government has broken the compact between the U.S. and individual states due to Joe Biden's total apathy when it comes to securing the border. With Biden unwilling to enforce the laws on the books, the Texas National Guard will work to stem the tide of illegal immigration.
States like Florida, Oklahoma and Virginia have voiced their support for Texas’ recent actions to stand up and defy Biden’s anti-American agenda.
Of course, Democrats find it appalling that there are elected officials in America who actually want to advance the best interests of the folks they represent. Congressional Democrats have gone as far as to call upon Joe Biden to federalize the Texas National Guard. This is where we are at–Democrats want the President of the United States to seize control of a state's own National Guard in order to prevent them from being used to secure the very border that Biden is constitutionally obligated to protect. You can’t make this up.
Washington was focused last week on the looming shutdown deadline. Both the House and the Senate voted to pass a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the government open until March 1. I opposed this CR because we still have had no guarantee that anything will be done to secure our porous southern border.
For this reason, until we see hard and true provisions to secure our southern border, I will not vote for a CR to fund the government. Biden has shown that he has no interest in securing our border, and therefore we must force his hand. This means playing hardball.
