Having reliable access to high-speed Internet connection is essential in our daily lives. We need it to work, learn at home or school, access government services, news, and career opportunities. Still, the cost of broadband is the biggest barrier for many in getting and staying connected to the Internet. 18% of consumers have said they do not have internet at home because it was too expensive.¹ The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) helps subsidize this cost by giving $30 a month to help eligible individuals afford internet plans. The ACP has been in operation since January 2022, but it already has a higher participation rate throughout the country than any other federal telecommunications subsidy.²

Despite its success, the ACP is at risk because the funds are on track to run out by April 2024. If Congress does not take action now, millions of families will be without the help they need to afford a broadband subscription, including those already enrolled and subscribed. We can’t let this happen. Congress must act now to ensure funding for this important program. Contact your representative now to take action and stop people across the country from losing access to the Internet.
