Here are some recent updates.
* The Maine Supreme Court won't ([link removed]) weigh in on Donald Trump's eligibility under the 14th Amendment to appear on the state’s primary ballot. The secretary of state — who previously removed Trump from the ballot — will issue a new decision after the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the matter.
* Pennsylvania Republicans filed ([link removed]) a lawsuit invoking the discredited independent state legislature theory, arguing that President Joe Biden and Gov. Josh Shapiro's (D) efforts to expand voter registration in the state violated the U.S. Constitution.
* The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral argument in a lawsuit ([link removed]) challenging voter suppression law Senate Bill 7050 ([link removed]) , which restricts the activities of third-party voter registration organizations.
+ A federal judge temporarily blocked ([link removed]) provisions of S.B. 7050 that limit third-party voter registration organizations, which work to engage voters and conduct voter registration in a nonpartisan manner. State officials appealed this decision to the 11th Circuit.
* The U.S. Department of Justice submitted ([link removed]) a brief in a lawsuit over a Mississippi law that restricts who can assist voters with disabilities in returning their absentee ballots, writing that the law violates the "plain text" of Section 208 of the Voting Rights Act.
* Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost (R) rejected ([link removed]) a second version of an expansive voting rights amendment, claiming the language "does not fairly or accurately summarize or describe the actual content of the proposed amendment.
