The construction of a new wind farm in New Mexico (called the SunZia project) will establish more than 900 wind turbines and generate over 3,000 megawatts of clean energy. Then, a 550-mile transmission line will bring the power to nearly 3 million people living in Arizona and California.
The only problem is that it has taken so long to get here! Since this project was first announced, Taylor Swift has released 10 studio albums.
Can you chip in now to help us elect more SEEC Members to make sure we’re getting these climate initiatives done?
Thankfully, SEEC Members Sean Casten and Mike Levin have introduced a new, marquee bill (The Clean Electricity and Transmission Acceleration Act) to spur the expansion of power lines, which will help accelerate this project and many others.
This is especially important because the Department of Energy says we need to dramatically accelerate work on transmission in order to reach our clean-energy goals.
If it takes another 10 albums from Taylor Swift to get the next major transmission project going, we’re never going to tackle the climate crisis with the urgency it demands.
Will you chip in now to support the SEEC Members who are leading the fight in Congress to finish more clean energy projects like this?
