The United States must focus on how to stop the bombing, how to release the hostages, and how to save lives.
John,
We are witnessing a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Over 24,000 civilians have been killed since the war began, the majority of them women and children. 70% of the homes destroyed. A virtual embargo on humanitarian aid. We need a permanent ceasefire, full hostage release, and large-scale humanitarian aid to be allowed in.
The United States must focus on how to stop the bombing, how to release the hostages, and how to save lives now.
Prolonged war is not the solution. We need a permanent cease-fire, release of all hostages, and start negotiations for an independent Palestinian state with equal rights living side by side with a secure Israel.
Israel had the right to defend itself following the October 7th Hamas attack, but the U.S. should never have given Netanyahu's far-right government such a green light to bomb civilians in the manner we've witnessed over the past many weeks.
