My Dear and Precious Siblings,

You are well aware of how my Christian faith and the teachings of my revolutionary savior, Jesus Christ, guide and inform my values, my morality, and my politics. To that end, not much makes me more indignant than witnessing oligarchs and their sycophants take advantage of, and extract from poor and working class folk to increase their wealth at the expense of the most vulnerable. It’s why Jesus went into that temple, and it’s why I write to you today. 

Last week our friends at the think tank, Groundwork Collaborative, released a report proving that 53% of inflation, the highest level in 40 years, during the height of the COVID pandemic was driven by the organized greed of corporations. The practice was so iniquitous the report’s authors even coined the phrase “greedflation” to fully accentuate such a sinister scheme. How else can you describe the fact that CEO’s literally bragged to their stockholders about keeping prices high for consumers even though corporate input costs decreased all in the name of widening profit margins? 

It’s time to dismantle the organized greed of corporate cartels and the derelict duopoly who continue to place profits over people. Click here to demand Congress immediately pass a Windfall Profits Penalty so we can get that money back in the hands of poor and working class people.

We know that we can’t rely on the derelict duopoly to do the right thing and stand with the people without pressure. President Obama and the Democrats had their chance to bring these Wall Street vultures to justice in 2008, but instead rewarded them with a bailout using the people’s money when so many were still reeling from the worst financial collapse since the Great Depression. And ten years later, Trump and the Republicans rewarded these same money hungry miscreants with a massive tax break on the backs of poor and working class people, many of whom are paying a higher tax rate than CEOs like Warren Buffett and Jeff Bezos.

This is nothing more than crack pipe capitalism - the addicts of avarice continue to achieve although they deceive. This must end, and it must end right now. Please sign our campaign’s petition demanding Congress seize at least 70% of corporate windfall profits and redistribute these funds to poor and working  class people.

With your help we can take back what is rightfully ours and send a message that, moving forward, corporations who use disaster to benefit themselves will have to pay the price so the people don’t shoulder the costs of organized greed.
