The House GOP is lining up to protect their own—this time, with Speaker Mike Johnson, who in his short time as Speaker has already failed to pass a budget multiple times, endorsing Lauren Boebert in her carpetbagging bid to stay in Congress:
Maybe it's because she was instrumental in causing the chaos that toppled Kevin McCarthy and ultimately landed him the top spot; maybe it's because he buys her phony Christianity. Who knows.
But Johnson and the mainstream Republican Party protected George Santos as long as they could, and now it seems "the Swamp," as they are so fond of saying, is going all out to keep one of its swampiest creatures in D.C.
Boebert is going to need all the help she can get. Facing a skeptical electorate in a brand new district and contending with grassroots groups like ours gearing up to take her down—it's going to take more than Mike Johnson's pathetic endorsement to keep her in Congress.
