As your Supervisor, I want to assure you I have my ear to the ground, and am working around the clock with federal, state, county and city leaders to assess the situation and ensure that we are prepared for any and every situation.
Governor Newsom has already issued a state of emergency for San Diego, and the County of San Diego ratified our declaration for a state of emergency yesterday. As we take every precaution possible to ensure the safety of our Community, let us not forget that this is a glaring reminder of the fact that climate change is banging down our door.
From the raging fire season to the devastating floods we are witnessing in real time, the threat climate change poses to our safety and security can not be ignored. We must also acknowledge the lack of investment into our infrastructure that contributed to the devastation of the storm.
Right now, my entire team is doing everything we can to ensure our community members can recover from this storm with dignity. We are working with climate scientists, elected officials, engineers, and the people of our Community on rapid response and long term solutions.
Today, that looks like providing necessary information and resources for the people I represent. For more information on how to stay safe in this devastating weather, click here → [[link removed]]
