John,
This week we got some upsetting news.
On January 24, government scientists held a private Senate briefing about the potential consequences of this pandemic. In response, not only did our leaders not step up and take action to prevent the spread, they took the opportunity to turn a personal profit.
Anticipating a stock market crash, Senators from both parties, including our own Dianne Feinstein, sold stocks. Feinstein and her husband took home anywhere between $1.5–6 million from the transaction.
The corruption in Washington is not confined to one political party. Both the Democrats and the Republicans represent the rich and powerful. This pandemic has demonstrated once again that our government does not represent the working people.
Now more than ever it's critical we confront the status quo. Your donation today will help us take back Congress for the people!

This isn't the first time Democratic leaders have been caught insider trading. Our opponent Nancy Pelosi has engaged in the same behavior.
In 2012, President Obama signed the Stop Trading On Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act. The law stops government officials from using insider knowledge gained from working in government to profit in the stock market.
The law literally contains a section called the "Pelosi Provision," added after Nancy Pelosi's husband purchased shares in Visa while Congress was pursuing new credit card regulations. Within two days, he turned a profit.
This corruption has gone on too long. Can you chip in $25 to help us elect new leadership in Congress?
The Senate had an opportunity to take action in January. They could have helped stop the spread of this deadly virus that will take so many people's lives, but also working people's jobs, savings, and homes. Instead, they chose to turn a profit.
We have an opportunity to turn things around this November. This week I went on Southern journalist Beau of the Fifth Congress' podcast to talk about the pandemic. Here's what I had to say:
"If we can throw off the yoke of ... bipartisan corporate rule ... we have the opportunity ... not only to meet the crises of this moment, but to create a new spectrum of opportunities for the future."
We're at a crossroads. It's democratic socialism or barbarism. Can you chip in $25 to help us ensure San Franciscans make the right choice?
