Dear SPUC supporter

I wanted to update you on the extreme abortion amendments in Parliament. Today, they were debated by a small number of MPs in Committee.

The amendments were moved by pro-abortion MP Jess Phillips, and there was a short debate. MPs agreed that such an important issue shouldn’t be decided by a handful of MPs in Committee, but that the whole House should have a chance to have a say. The amendments were withdrawn.

However, the danger is not over. It is now very likely that one of these amendments, or a new version of them, will be brought back at Report stage of the Bill in February.

It is now very important that MPs are flooded with letters ahead of any vote at Report stage. To that end, we will be holding a webinar on Wednesday next week, 31st Jan, at 6.30pm. In the webinar, we will explain the political situation, and guide you on how to write to your MP.

We will send out zoom details shortly, but please put the date in your diaries!

Thank you for campaigning with us.
