Dear Friend,
We recently wrote to you about the urgent need to keep people home with their loved ones. Sadly, that fight continues. The U.S. Senate is still expected to consider Senate Joint Resolution 47 – a resolution that would send the over 3,000 people successfully on home confinement under the CARES Act back to prison.
The Senate must reject this cruel and senseless resolution! Tell your senators to vote NO on SJRes47: [link removed] [[link removed]]
The CARES Act Home Confinement Policy has been one of the most successful criminal justice policies of all time. Over 13,000 people were placed on expanded home confinement under the CARES Act. Of those 13,000, less than 1% were returned into custody for a new offense, and less than 5% were returned into custody for a violation of their home confinement conditions.
The people who are still on home confinement have followed the rules to the letter. They have started jobs, reconnected with their families, gotten married, started school, and have fully embraced their second chance. The Senate must vote to keep them home.
Contact your senators today and urge them to vote NO on SJRes47: [link removed] [[link removed]]
