He's a proud Trump ally and an anti-democracy extremist. In his first term as senator, Scott voted with Trump nearly 85% of the time — a score that includes his vote to overturn the 2020 electoral results.
He has never won broad support from Florida voters. Scott narrowly won his first and second races for Florida governor by 1% of the vote. In his first run for Senate, the margin was just as small (only 1.2% of the vote!).
He is deeply anti-choice and wouldn't hesitate to sign a national abortion ban. Scott is on the record saying that if he were still governor of Florida, he would have proudly signed a 6-week abortion ban into law.
