Trump warns he will blacklist Nikki Haley campaign donors
The disgraced ex-president tightened his autocratic death grip on the Republican Party, declaring in a social media screed that anyone who contributes to Haley’s platform "from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don’t want them, and will not accept them." Nope. Definitely not a cult. Super normal political behavior from a very reasonable and incredibly stable genius.

Over 64,000 rape survivors became pregnant across 14 US states after Roe vs. Wade overturned, study finds
Combing through multiple government records, including those with the FBI and the Bureau of Justice Statistics, researchers found that a staggering 520,000 vaginal rapes occurred between July 1, 2022, and the start of this year across 14 states that banned abortion following the Supreme Court's disastrous ruling overturning Roe vs. Wade. Nearly 12.5 percent of those rapes resulted in pregnancy. Only 10 legal abortions were reported during this 18-month time frame in any of these 14 states with abortion bans, including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, and Louisiana. We are at war. Remember in November.
Take Action: End abortion bans ASAP!

Trump vows to push the world over the edge
Evergreen Action: We’re running out of time to stop the climate crisis — but Donald Trump just vowed to “drill, baby, drill” and push the world into ecological catastrophe just so his Big Oil cronies can make a huge payday. Evergreen Action is at the forefront of the fight to save the planet and put bold climate action at the top of America’s agenda. Can you chip in to make sure Trump’s dream never becomes our nightmare?
Greg Abbott declares Biden has "broken the compact" between the United States and Texas, claims state has right to defend itself from "invasion"
Still stinging from his recent Supreme Court rebuke which granted federal agents the authority to remove deady razor wire he illegally erected along the Rio Grande, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott doubled down on Texas' so-called sovereign right to defend itself, declaring, "James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the US Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president." That sound you no doubt heard is the nation's stockpile reserve of irony imploding on itself. Republicans lecturing Democrats on lawlessness! What's next? Elon Musk brosplaining the Holocaust? Oh, wait...
Take Action: Demand Clarence Thomas recuse himself in Trump's disqualification case!
Elon Musk declares himself "aspirationally Jewish" after PR rehabilitation tour of Auschwitz
The right-wing billionaire tech bozo — who's spent much of his time since taking over Twitter behaving aspirationally antisemitic — declared himself "aspirationally Jewish" following his reputation rehabilitation tour of the Auschwitz death camp in Poland, where — it bears repeating, apparently — millions of Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. Musk claimed he had so many Jewish friends that he was "Jewish by association" but added that he was "naive" about antisemitism. Not one for optics, Musk kept digging, trying to explain is previous ignorance on the matter: "What are people talking about with this antisemitism? Because I never hear it at dinner conversations. It's like an absurdity — at least in my friend circles." Considering that the people Elon cozies up to on Twitter are neo-Nazis and white supremacists, that actually makes a lot of sense.
Take Action: Stop right-wing billionaires from taking over the government!

Jon Stewart to return to The Daily Show
Nine years after stepping down as host of the Comedy Central show he transformed into a cultural and political juggernaut, Jon Stewart announced he will resume hosting duties on Monday nights beginning in February. He will also executive produce the show while a rotating line-up of comedians host the program Tuesdays through Thursdays. Stewart announced the big news with a post on whatever we're calling Twitter these days, stating, "Friends. After much reflection I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility. Excited for the future!" And behold, the people rejoiced.
More than one-third of Americans believe Israel is committing genocide, poll shows
Americans' response to the brutal war between Israel and Hamas stands in stark contrast to previous conflicts, where unflinching support for Israel was the overwhelming historic norm. According to a new Economist/YouGov poll, roughly equal numbers of adults believe Israel’s military campaign against Palestinians, which is estimated to have killed more than 25,000 people since October 7, amounts to genocide: 35% say it is, 36% say it isn’t, with 29% undecided. Among younger Americans divisions are more prominent. Almost half of those surveyed aged 18-29, 49%, say Israel is committing genocide, with 24% disagreeing and 27% uncertain.

Trump finally goes off the deep end with insane court claim
No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen: Unbelievable.
Pentagon's Middle East military buildup costs $1.6 billion — which they can't pay because the GOP won't pass a budget
The Pentagon estimates the US military buildup in the Middle East since Hamas' Oct. 7 attacks on Israel will cost $1.6 billion, a bill the department is unable to pay due to dysfunctional House Republicans' ongoing inability to pass an actual budget. The overall number — which could balloon to well over $2 billion later this year — includes the cost to send additional warships, fighter jets, and equipment to the region, and keep them there for the last four months. It does not include the cost of the missiles the US military has expended attacking Houthi positions in Yemen or hunting down drones in the Red Sea. Other costs the military has definitely yet to account for include radicalizing yet another generation of impoverished civilians in a war-torn region ripped apart by US-sanctioned bloodshed and violence.
Nearly all Senate Democrats sign onto Palestinian statehood measure
All but two Senate Democrats are supporting a measure endorsing the creation of a Palestinian state as part of a national security package that includes additional military aid to Israel. While retiring conservative Democrat Joe Manchin's nay vote was not a surprise, Pennsylvania's John Fetterman's decision not to back the resolution was hugely disappointing. Fetterman, who presented himself as a firebrand progressive during his quixotic campaign before recasting himself as a milquetoast moderate, released a statement through his spokesperson claiming he "strongly supports a two-state solution in Israel and Palestine" but that he "also strongly believes that this resolution should include language stipulating the destruction of Hamas as a precondition to peace." The US State Department designated Hamas as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997 and has spent billions of dollars over the past 27 years coordinating with Israel to eliminate the group's presence in the region.
Ohio Republicans ban gender-affirming care and restricts transgender athletes, overriding GOP governor's veto
The Republican-dominated state Senate voted Wednesday to override Gov. Mike DeWine's earlier veto, banning gender-affirming care for minors and restricting transgender women’s and girls’ participation on sports teams, a move that has families of transgender children scrambling over how best to care for them. So comforting to know there are fearless patriots out there doing the critical work of targeting and further ostracizing the most marginalized among us. Where would we be as a society if we simply let these people be and let families make deeply personal decisions for themselves? Shudder to think.
ObamaCare marks third year of record enrollment with 5 million more signups
A record 21.3 million people have officially signed up for healthcare insurance through the HealthCare.gov Marketplace for 2024, marking a third consecutive banner year for the program. For those keeping score at home, 21.3 million is a lot. It's also the number of Americans who stand to lose their critical coverage should Donald Trump and the Republican Party have their way in November. To quote Obama, "don't just boo, vote!"
