A new year's message from Anthea Sully, Chief Executive, WRUK

Dear subscriber,

Thank you for your continued loyalty and support of our work as subscriber to this newsletter, which aims to achieve three things:
1. Keep you informed of our work to engage men to stop violence before it starts;
2. share opportunities to support this mission;
3. and inform you of developments in the VAWG sector as relates to primary prevention.

The White Ribbon UK team and I look forward to communicating with you over the course of this year and hope you feel inspired by the activity that took place in 2023.

At the end of 2023, I wrote to you with my New Year's wish that everyone would make ending men's violence against women and girls (MVAWG) a top priority in 2024. Just one month into the new year, our focus is already on November and the selection of a broad, inclusive and positive theme for White Ribbon Day 2024, Monday, 25th November. We know such an approach works to make real change happen.

So does collaboration. Your input matters and I would really like to hear ideas you may have for the 2024 White Ribbon Day theme and for resources that would help you mark White Ribbon Day.
Share your idea (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Idea%20for%20White%20Ribbon%20Day%202024)
As we prepare additional resources to complement the annual White Ribbon Day ones, I invite you to continue to use the resources ([link removed]) developed around the #ChangeTheStory campaign.

This year, let's make MVAWG a top priority by normalising conversations about this issue and its root causes. I encourage you to wear the White Ribbon and take advantage of discounted awareness-raising materials with the White Ribbon symbol that are available on our Shop ([link removed]) .

If you'd like to go a step further and bring these conversations into your place of work, please visit our website ([link removed]) to learn more about how we can support this with our training and speaking offers.

Lastly, White Ribbon UK is a primary prevention charity and relies on financial support from donors and fundraisers to be able to continue to operate and carry out our mission. Many supporters in past years have started fundraisers in January to support their movement goals. It's not too late to start your fundraiser in the lead up to International Women's Day on 8th March, when we ask men and boys to listen and celebrate the diverse lived experiences of women. You can read more about the messaging around this day here ([link removed]) .

Thank you again for your support and I look forward to the success this community will share together in stopping violence against women before it starts.

Best wishes,
Anthea Sully
Chief Executive
