John,

Seeing last night’s results out of New Hampshire brought me back to the moment I knew I had to run for Congress again.

When the polls closed after my last election, we were feeling very optimistic about our chances. So good in fact that I actually got an invitation to attend new member orientation in Washington D.C.

One day at orientation, while I was literally standing on the House floor, I got an alert on my phone: a new batch of votes put Ken Calvert’s vote share out of reach. The race was called, and I had officially lost.

It was a tough moment, so my partner Paolo and I did what a lot of couples might do – we went back to our hotel bar. It was there that I saw the news that Donald Trump had just announced his 2024 campaign for president.

It was in that moment that I knew our fight wasn’t over yet -- that our democracy remains fragile, and it’s on each of us to do everything in our power to better our communities and our country.

After last night, with Trump winning in New Hampshire and now on his way to the Republican nomination, I’ve never been more confident that running for this seat again was the right thing to do.

John, the threats that our democracy is facing are more real than ever. And the fact is a Democratic Majority in Congress is our best fail-safe against a Trump presidency. That’s why I’m in this race to flip CA-41, and it’s why I’m asking for your support today:

We’re exactly one week from our very first end-of-month fundraising deadline of 2024. Help us set the tone by chipping in $3, or whatever you can afford, today. Your donation will help flip CA-41 and finish the job against Ken Calvert.
