CHAIR'S CORNER
Aloha Hawaii Republican Party Members,
I trust this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to provide you with an update on the progress of our Presidential Caucus and share some important information regarding upcoming events.
I am pleased to announce that the preparations for the Presidential Caucus are well underway, and we have confirmed all locations for this crucial event. You can find the detailed information on our official website, www.thehawaiirepublicanparty.com. Additionally, we encourage you to sign up through the website to become a volunteer. (Here) Those who register online will be given priority consideration for the various positions available across the state. In person training will happen on Maui February 9th, and on the Big Island in Hilo on February 10th.
Given recent developments in the Presidential race, with President Donald Trump securing victories in the Iowa and New Hampshire caucuses, and the suspension of campaigns by several candidates, the frequent asked question arises - do we still need to hold the caucus? The answer is YES. Suspending a campaign does not automatically remove a candidate's name from the ballot, their names stay on the ballot. The caucus remains essential to determine the appropriate allocation of delegates for each campaign.
Furthermore, we have great events planned statewide, and each county is gearing up for some great activities along with working with our State Vice Chairs of Community Service and Coalitions, Joelle Seashell and Sheryl Bieler. Keep checking your Hawaii Republican Party Newsletters (like this one) for upcoming events, such as Counties holding PEMS (Precinct Election Meetings) in February.
As a reminder, our upcoming State Convention on Oahu is scheduled for May 4th and 5th. Tickets will be available soon, and detailed planning for the convention will commence in February. If you are interested in actively contributing to the success of the convention, we invite you to join the convention committee. Kindly contact your county chair to express your interest and get involved in the planning process. We are also seeking volunteers for the day of the convention. If you are willing to host a neighbor Island guest on Oahu during the convention, please send an email to [email protected].
Mahalo for your continued dedication and commitment to the Hawaii Republican Party. Your involvement is integral to the success of our initiatives, and together, we can make a meaningful impact.
Aloha,
Tamara McKay
