John,
Instead of listening to the majority of people around our country and the world demanding a ceasefire in Palestine, the Biden administration is escalating violence—including bombing Yemen multiple times.
For decades, the U.S. government has spent more on weapons and war than any other country on earth. And it didn’t make anyone, anywhere, any safer.
This year’s Pentagon budget is the largest ever in the history of our country: $886 billion.
How can we justify this spending while our neighbors are struggling to access healthcare, feed their families, and afford housing? Meanwhile, billions of our tax dollars go to Israel’s military as it cuts off Palestinians’ water, food, housing, and healthcare.
In the next few weeks, the President’s budget proposal for next year is due. He needs to hear from us.
Tell President Biden: Cut the Pentagon budget! More weapons and war are not the way.
We can’t let the funding for wars and bombs go up again this year while we keep neglecting the needs of our struggling communities at home.
Year after year, my colleagues in Washington tell us that there’s no money for lifesaving programs to address hunger or poverty, only to turn around and pass another record-breaking military budget to fund bombs, weapons, and war crimes.
It’s time to call on President Biden to invest in human needs and cut the Pentagon budget now.
Thank you. I will continue to advocate for marginalized communities and working families, for a ceasefire and diplomacy, and for freedom and dignity for all people.
In solidarity,
Rashida
