Friend — our 2023 Membership Drive deadline is just one week away, and this is an important one. Here’s the situation: the Department of Energy (DOE) is currently considering its largest-ever application to
export liquefied methane gas — a project called Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2) in southwest Louisiana.
This project is a ticking climate bomb — with yearly emissions equal to 53 coal-fired power plants or 43
million cars. Our communities and planet simply cannot afford a massive new source of fossil fuel pollution that will make the climate crisis even worse.
The environmental movement has a shot — a real shot — at blocking the whole thing, but
it comes down to the kind of pressure we can apply to lawmakers right now. We’re turning to our members to help pull this off.
The best thing you can do right now to fight this and other dirty fossil fuel projects is to renew your LCV membership today. For a limited time, every contribution will be TRIPLE MATCHED. Even $5 can make a difference >>
We’re up against Big Oil lobbyists who are spending BIG to pressure lawmakers to keep business as usual for LNG export decisions — and we have to make sure our voices are louder.
That’s why meeting our membership goal really matters, Friend. Many LNG export projects, including CP2, would exacerbate the climate crisis, worsen the already hazardous air quality in the Gulf region, and deepen environmental injustices in marginalized communities living nearby. We cannot allow export projects like these to move forward, which is why
environmentalists like you and me need to take action for a better future NOW.
LCV is working every day to oppose dirty energy and build a healthy clean energy future for all. To keep our campaign against LNG exports — along with the rest of our work — going strong, we need to raise $50,000 before our midnight deadline this Wednesday, January 31. If everyone reading this right now were to pitch in just $5, we’d blow through that goal in minutes.
Here’s where things stand:
Renew your LCV membership for just $5 to power our campaigns while this TRIPLE MATCH is still active >>
Thank you for standing up for our communities and our planet, Friend.
Onward,
