Can you speak out before it’s too late? ͏‌ ͏‌
Friend,
Just when we thought the gun lobby and their friends in power couldn’t stoop lower, they have proved us wrong.
Lawmakers in Indiana just passed legislation through the House with the sole purpose of ending a lawsuit to hold gun manufacturers and dealers accountable for years of negligent and unlawful practices that have fueled gun violence in the city of Gary, IN. If the bill becomes law, a major avenue to creating industry-wide gun violence prevention reforms would be closed.
Friend, I'm from Indiana, and as a Hoosier, I’m outraged, and as an American, I’m frightened for what’s to come.
The implications of the passage of this bill are deadly, friend. That’s why Brady is doing everything in our power to stop this bill and protect Americans – and I need everyone in every state to be paying attention. Will you speak out against this gun lobby-backed deadly action today, before it’s too late?

In 1999, Brady filed suit on behalf of more than 30 major cities nationwide against major gun manufacturers working to expose the role of the gun industry in supplying the criminal gun market. One by one, these cases were picked off, largely due to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which was passed at the behest of the gun lobby and gave the gun industry special protections.
But despite the gun industry making every effort to destroy these cases, one remained: City of Gary, Indiana v. Smith & Wesson.
Now, after 24 years of overcoming obstacles, the City of Gary’s lawsuit has been allowed to move forward. But if the Gary lawsuit is killed by this overreaching legislation, the gun industry would remain above the law and unaccountable. All Americans would remain in danger of the gun industry's unchecked power.
Friend, this bill in Indiana is a last-ditch effort by the gun lobby to kill the City of Gary’s lawsuit and protect gun industry profits. Every single member of the Indiana state house who voted to pass this bill has done the gun industry defendants’ bidding, putting gun manufacturers’ interest in operating outside the law above the safety of Hoosiers. Will you speak out against this deadly bill today?
