Effective January 19, 2024, the IRS has resumed processing applications for individuals to become Certified Acceptance Agents (CAAs), using a modernized, electronic application process. CAAs can receive and process documentation for individuals applying for Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITINs) so that they do not have to send their vital documents by mail to the IRS. PIF has found that community-based CAAs, combined with immigrant-friendly VITA sites and trained community outreach workers, can greatly improve immigrant families’ access to tax credits for their families.

ITIN Acceptance Agent Program Information

Join PIF partners across the country by conducting an educational event this month to mark the anniversary of the new public charge rule.  PIF’s toolkit of materials to support outreach includes social media messages, images, and gifs; template slide decks for presentations; informational fliers for distribution in 9 languages, and media outreach templates. Let’s make January a “teach-in” about public charge across the country!  If you hold community events, let PIF know how it went by completing this form by February 9th.
