Dear John,
I woke up in early January feeling some unsettled dread about the 2024 Presidential Election. The facts felt grim: it looks likely we’ll have a re-match between Trump and Biden, and the Biden administration has failed to take meaningful action on some of the things most important to us- racial justice, military funding and, perhaps on our hearts most heavily, freedom for Palestinians. In the first couple of weeks of this year, I’ve had the chance to really shift my perspective and re-focus on the 2024 election cycle as an opportunity to build true progressive power at the local and state level, defend progressive governing power, and set ourselves up for wins in 2025 and 2035 on climate, economy, taxes and more.
I’ve had a chance to meet with movement leaders and pull my eyes away from the top of the ticket to reground in what this election can and could mean for us- as young people fighting for wealth redistribution- I want to share that opportunity with all of us with two events upcoming. If you’re like me and feeling some “we need to take action but the federal outlook has me depressed and unmotivated,” come through, share your perspective and let’s make meaning of it together. Movements aren’t giving up, neither will we.
Onward,
Nora

Join Resource Generation Action partners to find our footing this election cycle and make principled commitments to support wins for working people up and down the ballot. We’ll focus on learning about grassroots movement’s electoral strategy and how political donors can redistribute both power and money to support that strategy.
We’ll hear from Center for Popular Democracy Action, Movement for Black Lives Action Fund and Working Families party about best practices for C4 donors (Ie– how we can avoid flushing gobs of money into the pockets of TV Tycoons for ads, and actually invest in power building in communities).

Protect the Squad Briefing, co-sponsored by RG Action
Friday, January 26th at 2pm ET / 11am PT. You can register here. [[link removed]]
As you know, Republican billionaire donors and pro-insurrectionist groups like AIPAC are launching an effort of unprecedented scale to hijack Democratic primaries and oust progressive Black and brown incumbents. On our call, we will be joined by Congresswomen Pramila Jayapal and Summer Lee for a crucial look at the balance of power in the House of Representatives. They will break down the threats being levied [[link removed]] by AIPAC and other conservative donors to challenge incumbent Congressmembers of color for their courageous stands on the war in Gaza and other critical issues while in office.
WFP and JD will share their proposed strategy to defeat primary challengers to Congressional champions Summer Lee [[link removed]] , Jamaal Bowman [[link removed]] , Cori Bush [[link removed]] , Rashida Tlaib [[link removed]] and Ilhan Omar [[link removed]] and invite donors to support both the campaigns directly and an independent c4 effort led by WFP and JD.
As a strategic imperative, progressive funders who are committed to building governing power by, for, and with working class people must include support for the defense of our champions and our democracy from right-wing money in their giving strategy.
We sincerely hope you’ll join us at this briefing on Friday, January 26th at 2pm ET / 11am PT. You can register here. [[link removed]]
