Friends,
While conservatives have tried to brand themselves as the party of “pro-family” and “parents’ rights,” progressives are proposing policies that will actually help American families.
Expanding the Child Tax Credit (CTC) and allowing families to receive up to $2,000 per child could lift 400,000 children out of poverty.
Data for Progress polled voters and found 71% support an expanded Child Tax Credit, with 63% supporting an expanded CTC that would be available to all families, even if they do not earn an income:
However, conservatives are tying CTC expansion to corporate tax breaks that would decrease the effective tax rate for many large corporations — a move 68% of voters polled by DFP disagree with.
Voters deserve the benefits of the Child Tax Credit but not at the expense of tax breaks for already underpaying corporations.
Polling like this shows that voters want their elected officials to put families over corporations. Chip in to Data for Progress today & help us provide progressives with the polling-backed messaging tools to pass their policies that support hardworking families!
