Hey comrades, there’s a lot going on! Here’s a list of local events happening soon. Show up in solidarity! We’ll follow up later this week with full news updates on the Palestine Solidarity and Louisiana Democratic Party election resolutions that passed at our January General Meeting.
Events this week:
FRIDAY, January 26th, 12:00 to 1pm at S. Galvez St. & Cleveland Ave: New Orleans Healthcare Workers will gather to draw attention to Israel’s continuous attacks via airstrikes and ground invasion of hospitals in Gaza, and the impact this has on healthcare workers and civilians in Gaza.
Also this Friday, 10:00am to 12pm, Livestream Community Conversation about the Federal Lawsuit charging the US with genocide against Palestine, hosted by Taproot Earth, JVP New Orleans, Voice of the Experienced (VOTE), National Lawyers Guild - Louisiana Chapter, Project Ishmael, Patois, and the Center for Constitutional Rights. SATURDAY, January 27th, 1:00-4:00pm at Cafe Istanbul, JVP New Orleans, Patois, Channel Vivid and Nola Healthcare Workers for Palestine are hosting a special screening of “Israelism” + the short film ‘Roof Knocking.” The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the Palestinian and Jewish members of our community who are fighting together for a free Palestine. Entergy Town Hall Series: The City Council just approved $170 million in Hurricane Ida costs to be passed along to Entergy New Orleans customers, and now Entergy New Orleans is asking ratepayers for an additional $1 billion. These town halls are our chance to learn about Entergy’s plan, ask questions, and get answers:
District E: Tuesday, January 30th at 6pm, Andrew P. Sanchez & Copelin-Byrd Multi-Service Center, 1616 Fats Domino Ave.
District C: Thursday, February 1st at 5:30pm, Algiers Regional Library, 3014 Holiday Dr.
District B: Tuesday, February 6th at 5:30pm, Broadmoor Community Church, 2021 S. Dupre St.
