Friend,
Every week, I email you to lay out one of the many reasons we need to get a Democratic majority back in the House, increase our majority in the Senate, and re-elect Joe Biden – and today, I’d like to tell you about the vital growth of our nation’s small businesses and how Republicans are working against that growth.
In 2023, the Small Business Administration received 5.5 million business applications – a record number for the third consecutive year.
These records are being broken because the Biden administration and our Democratic Caucus in the House Committee on Small Businesses have turned the tide on the bias that previously excluded countless women and people of color from accessing SBA resources. Now, more Black, Latino, and women founders are applying, getting approved, and accessing vital resources like loans and training.
Because of this work, since 2021, 1.3 million small businesses have been added to the economy, the fastest growth rate in the last 25 years. This increase directly supports neighborhood economies, as we know locally-owned businesses are more likely to hire local employees, invest in their local communities, and have smaller environmental impacts related to running their business.
But, Republicans are actively working to stop the programs that are helping our Black, Latino, and women founders begin to close the gap in small business ownership. Conservatives think they can do to programs that support women and founders of color what they did to Affirmative Action. And they won’t stop until they strip dry the programs that empower these founders.
The GOP claims to be looking out for working families, but when it comes to the Black, Latino, and women founders who are working to support their families through entrepreneurship, Republicans say no way. [[link removed]]

Help us continue to deliver for working families and invest in small businesses across the country,
