Submit Comments Through Feb. 8
?
MADISON, Wis.?? The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public comments on two variances to the Northern Lake Michigan Coastal Regional Master Plan, which includes management for Peninsula State Park in Door County.
As described in Chapter NR 44 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code, a master plan variance is a change in the use or management of an area that is consistent with the area?s land management classification and objectives.
The Peninsula State Park Eagle Tower parking variance proposes to add additional parking and re-route or reconfigure access roads to expand capacity, improve public safety and alleviate congestion at Eagle Tower, Eagle Terrace and Eagle Panorama.
The Peninsula State Park Eagle Bluff Lighthouse variance proposes to authorize additional developments at the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse to expand historical interpretation and provide additional amenities for visitors.
Located on the west side of the Door Peninsula near Fish Creek, the 3,800-acre Peninsula State Park is one of Wisconsin?s top state park destinations, offering a wide variety of year-round outdoor recreation opportunities. Eagle Tower and Eagle Bluff Lighthouse are two of the park?s most popular attractions.
The public can review the draft variances by visiting the DNR?s Northern Lake Michigan Coastal Regional Master Plan webpage.
The public is encouraged to submit comments regarding the proposed variances to the Northern Lake Michigan Coastal Regional Master Plan. Submit comments by Feb. 8, 2024 to:
