As the AOTL Ohio State Director, folks often ask me why we've prioritized Ohio in our fight for fair maps. And when a reporter from Bloomberg Government asked me that question this week, I gave her a straight answer:

Ohio is one of the most gerrymandered states in the country. I will die on the hill that Ohio is very much still a purple battleground state. The problem is that our district lines, both at the state legislative and congressional level, make us look like we're way more red than we actually are.

Because of our gerrymandered maps, Ohioans have been denied real political representation for the past decade. With fair maps, we could elect legislators who represent Ohioans' views and make progress on issues we care about.

I'm in the fight for fair maps because I want to return power back to the people. I want legislative bodies that reflect Ohio's voters. And I want to make progress during the next decade. Not just here in Ohio, but in states across the country.
