Forty-five years ago, our organization was shaped by a big, bold goal: transforming our economy to work for everyone.
We’ve made great strides. Our work has saved millions of dollars for low-income taxpayers, equipped underserved children with savings accounts, and exposed some of the most shocking realities of America’s racial wealth divide.
But with our economy still leaving millions on the sidelines, it’s clear we have more work to do. In 2024, we’ll need your support to create even more change. [[link removed]]
For more than one-third of all households and more than half of families of color, financial ruin is one crisis away.Nearly half of consumers can’t get an affordable loan to advance their aspirations or cover an emergency.If the average family wealth continues to grow at the same pace it has over the past three decades, it would take Black families 228 years, and Latino families 84 years, to amass the same amount of wealth White families have today.
If we are honest about the state of most American households, we need more than an intervention: We need a transformation.
