Last March Louise Casey’s report showed that the Metropolitan police are solving half as many rapes and sexual offences as they were in 2016.
Despite being in charge of the police for eight years, the Mayor said he was shocked by this report. He promised 565 more police working on these terrible crimes.
Yet when I asked how many more police have actually been recruited to Rape and Serious Sexual Offences teams, only 156 are in place - just 28% of the promised figure. Even with the most shocking failures, Sadiq Khan can’t fix them. Can you sign our petition to rapidly get more police investigating sexual offences? |
