In the last days, hundreds of thousands of people took the streets in Germany against the far-right. The demonstrations erupted following a shocking investigation, uncovering plans by politicians of the extreme right party AfD to deport asylum seekers and German citizens with a migration background. We as Greens stand in solidarity with those who are attacked by the far-right, and with the many people who stand up against right-wing extremism across Europe! 20 weeks ahead of the European elections, this movement gives us hope.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya
A beacon of democratic resistance, Tsikhanouskaya is a Belarusian political activist renowned for her courageous stand in the 2020 Belarusian presidential election. Despite facing immense challenges, including forced exile, she remains a vocal advocate for free and fair elections, embodying the spirit of resilience and change. She will be speaking during the opening session of the Extended European Greens Congress on Friday, 2 February. For those of you who won't be able to be in Lyon in person, we will provide you with a live stream.
