The latest was a pro-democracy candidate snagging a Florida House seat in a district MAGA carried by 11 points in 2022. And over the next few weeks, we’ll have the opportunity to kick defense of democracy into high gear, with two special elections with real impact on the outcome of the 2024 cycle.
In NY-3 (so long, George Santos!) we can flip a Congressional seat and make Mike Johnson’s razor-thin MAGA majority even slimmer. Tom Suozzi is a respected legislator who has held the seat before. Polls place him in a good position as early voting begins–so let’s dig in, get out the vote in this Special Election, and carry him over the top! Meanwhile, in PA, control of the State House is once again up for grabs in the battle for an open seat in Bucks County (the 140th House District). This one pits solid pro-democracy candidate Jim Prokopiak against MAGA’s Candace Cabanas.
