Friends,
This morning, the County Board met and began with an update on COVID 19 in Arlington. Click below to watch (not read :)) for 10 minutes and get updated.
One of the actions: $100K in immediate, short-term contingency funding to work to help prevent hunger via a contribution to our social safety net partner AFAC. Learn more about that decision and get a brief, helpful update by clicking below:

Arlington County Public Health Director, Dr. Reuben Varghese

In the update, several of our leaders speak, including Dr. Reuben Varghese our Public Health Director, who is pictured here and Dr. Aaron Miller our Director of Public Safety Communications and Emergency. Both have been working so hard and well for so long--and I want you to know that to me they are real life heroes for all their work to this point.
Dr. Reuben and Aaron as well as County Manager Mark Schwartz and Deputy Jim Schwartz are working nonstop to keep us as safe as possible. Think of their public service and, perhaps even more, the rest of our Arlington County Health Department employees who got a very well deserved standing ovation from the County Board this morning.
They are persisting. We all absolutely can too. There will be more for the County to do. But there is also what we each can and must do. Together, we can stop the spread of this virus by being vigilant and sticking to these specific rules--https://newsroom.arlingtonva.us/release/covid19-social-distancing-community-spread/.

I wish you a safe and good weekend. Tell your family you love them, watch It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood for a little comfort, try Outlander on Netflix as Brooke and I are, or, perhaps, walk a dog like this one:

And, as you do whatever replenishes or sustains you, know that even as we keep 6 feet of social distance or more, and as we face this enormous challenge, we are all connected as we work through this, together.
Yours,
Matt
