John,
This past week has been surreal for many of us. That’s why I’m writing to offer a glimmer of unshakeable hope for the most vulnerable among us.
Each year in March, Dream Corps #cut50 hosts the Day of Empathy — the world's largest, single day of action for people incarcerated – and this year’s event isn’t going to be any smaller because of COVID-19. As events across the world fold in fear, Van Jones and I know that now more than ever we must stand with courage. So we made the bold decision to move our biggest national day of action to an online event. And we want you to be a part of it.
On Wednesday, March 25, we are inviting you to attend the Day of Empathy online with Dream Corps founder Van Jones, #cut50 co-founder Jessica Jackson, and myself. This town hall will feature special guests Martin Luther King III, Valarie Kaur, founder of the Revolutionary Love Project, and our Empathy Network organizers. We’ve also invited a few of our big-name influencer friends to drop by and share a few words about what the Day of Empathy means to them.
This is our opportunity to rally in support of our brothers, sisters, friends, and community members who are incarcerated and at a heightened risk for exposure to the coronavirus. Our online event allows us to follow expert advice on social distancing while still putting on a massive, digital demonstration of solidarity for people behind bars.
Join Van Jones and me on Wednesday. Register here!
As we enter a new, strange chapter of our nation's — of our world's — history, we ask that you answer the call to lock virtual arms with us as we fight to protect those most in jeopardy right now.
Revolutions don’t wait for the end of pandemics – let’s take this thing head-on, with empathy.
Nisha
