The Unz Review Digest - March 21, 2020

As might be expected, our most popular articles this last week were almost entirely focused on the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, which has become the overwhelming issue throughout America and Europe, though much of our focus was quite different than that found almost anywhere else on the Internet.

Ranking first in a photo-finish was Kevin Barrett’s presentation of the Coronavirus pandemic as a strong parallel to the 9/11 attacks of two decades ago, noting the extreme reluctance of the American MSM to even consider the possibility that the outbreak was an American biowarfare attack against China (and Iran) despite considerable circumstantial evidence pointing in that direction.  This extended case for “Coronavirus Truthers” quickly attracted nearly 500 comments totaling over 50,000 words.

Just behind in readership was a piece republishing the lengthy and very detailed comments by an individual who allegedly spent 40 years working in American government biodefense, a claim that my own investigation tends to support.  The writer drew upon his personal expertise to conclude that the evidence pointed to an American biowarfare attack against China, provoking another outpouring of nearly 500 comments totaling over 50,000 words.

Our fourth most popular featured article was authored by Asia Times columnist Pepe Escobar, who placed the Coronavirus outbreak in the broader context of an ongoing “hybrid war”  between the China and the US, with the latter employing a variety of different economic and military measures to attempt to forestall China’s rise to world power.

Ranking fifth was a 15,000 word article we had published in late January by an American expat living in China which was one of our first pieces making the case for Coronavirus representing a biowarfare attack against China, so far attracting over 800 comments totaling more than 100,000 words and over 8K Facebook Likes, with greater total readership than anything we have published in the last six months.

Just behind was Max Parry’s new piece focusing upon the same issue, which he placed in the context of the Malthusian ideology of America’s political elites.

And aside from this proliferation of Coronavirus articles, our third-ranking article was Michael Hudson’s podcast focus on the collapsing “neo-feudal” system of American banking.

I spent most of 2004 through 2006 blaming Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld for 9/11. As you can imagine, I got plenty of pushback. Strangely, the loudest, most hysterical shrieks came not from red-white-and-blue Republican patriots, but from seemingly insane Zionists screaming: “Why do you hate the Jews so much, you anti-Semite?”[1] At first, I... [The following is the republication of several long and very detailed comments by an unidentified purported expert on biowarfare that originally appeared on a recent thread of the Saker blogsite.] [Update: an investigation strongly suggests that the author's claims regarding his personal background and claimed expertise are correct.] I’ll throw my 2 cents in here.... Public Banking Institute Podcast Michael Hudson: [00:00:00] There's recognition that commercial banking has become dysfunctional and that most loans by commercial banks are either against assets – in which case the lending inflates the prices of real estate, stocks and bonds – or for corporate takeover loans. The economy’s low-income brackets have not been helped... Read More
Among the myriad, earth-shattering geopolitical effects of coronavirus, one is already graphically evident. China has re-positioned itself. For the first time since the start of Deng Xiaoping’s reforms in 1978, Beijing openly regards the US as a threat, as stated a month ago by Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Munich Security Conference during the... [Portions of this article were drawn from various sources as cited. However, additional portions seem to have been quoted from Larry Romanoff at Global Research without proper citation.] It does seem farfetched, doesn’t it? That the United States will risk World War III, using nuclear weapons, by launching a coronavirus inside China during the 2020... Read More
On March 11th, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the ongoing outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to be a global pandemic, the first since the H1N1 swine flu in 2009. Initially reported in the city of Wuhan in Central China in December, just four months later there are now over 150,000 cases in... Read More

The most commonly reported mainstream media account of the creation of the Coronavirus suggests that it was derived from an animal borne microorganism found in a wild bat that was consumed by an ethnic Chinese resident of Wuhan. But there appears to be some evidence to dispute that in that adjacent provinces in China, where... Read More

The New York Times is reporting somewhat ruefully that “The Mission to Hunt Nazis Has Become a Race Against Time.” The U.S. Government’s zeal in going after alleged former “Nazis” began in 1979 when the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) was established within the Justice Department. In 2002, OSI included 13 attorneys, almost all of... Read More
The 20th century has seen a seemingly countless number of military conflicts, ranging from small local clashes, to at least two world wars. The same 20th century saw a huge efforts by major powers to develop three types of so-called “weapons of mass destruction” (WMD): Atomic, Bacteriological and Chemical (ABC). All of these WMD were... WASHINGTON D.C. – In recent weeks, concern over the emergence of a novel coronavirus in China has grown exponentially as media, experts and government officials around the world have openly worried that this new disease has the potential to develop into a global pandemic. As concerns about the future of the ongoing outbreak have grown,... Read More
As a chicken chomping, coke snorting species, we have three main foes. 1) Beasts more ferocious than us, such as tigers, lions and, well, just about all other animals, since we’re such wimps. 2) Living organisms we can’t even see, such as viruses. 3) Other men, of course, since man is clearly man’s most lethal... The federal reserve recently announced a $1.5 trillion dollar coronavirus "stimulus" package, $500 billion of which will go to incentivize banks to keep lending. Another maneuver, cutting Federal Reserve interest rates from an already low amount to effectively 0%, means big banks will be handed the equivalent of interest-free cash under the assumption that they... Now that the Democratic Party has apparently succeeded in getting rid of the only two voices among its presidential candidates that actually deviated from the establishment consensus, it appears that Joe Biden will be running against Donald Trump in November. To be sure, Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard are still hanging on, but the fix... Read More
When in doubt as to just how remiss your government was, see what Israel has done to protect its nationals from the coronavirus pandemic. The problem with the future is that it hasn’t happened yet. I had a hard time explaining this to my finance students in a discussion of accounting and budgeting.
