Encourage more moderates and independents to vote by taking Trump on directly.

Ron DeSantis’s decision to drop out of the Republican presidential race and endorse Donald Trump puts Nikki Haley in a bind. She now faces Mr. Trump one-on-one while being castigated by Mr. DeSantis and the MAGA right as a pro-war globalist out of step with today’s GOP.

She will be tempted to see the writing on the wall, go soft on Mr. Trump, and try to preserve her political future as she goes down to inevitable defeat. She should do the opposite.
