Integrating Chemical and Biological Control for Hemlock Woolly Adelgid
"What you need to know about using pesticides in the presence of predators?"
*Date:* Thursday, February 15?
*Time:* 3:00PM- 4:30PM?
*Location:* Virtual - Zoom?
*Presenter:* Maine Forest Service Forest Entomologist Colleen Teerling ?
*Host:* University of Maine?
More and more landowners and managers are purchasing biological control for hemlock woolly adelgid on their woodlands. However, because biological control is a long-term solution, many are turning to targeted pesticide application to save high-value trees and to maintain a hemlock forest on the landscape while predator numbers build up over the years, and they are looking for applicators who know how to preserve their very expensive predators. Chemical control can be compatible with biological control, but the correct pesticides and timing must be used. Learn the principles of integrating chemical and biological control to maintain the health of hemlocks. One pesticide applicator credit will be offered.?
