General meeting: Green and healthy schools
February 13th, 2024 at 7:30 pm
Decades of disinvestment was already wreaking havoc on NYC public schools, but now the climate crisis is here and schools are woefully underprepared. The Green and Healthy Schools campaign brings together youth, labor, and environmental justice organizations to galvanize green investment in schools. They're calling on Mayor Adams, Governor Hochul, and the NYC DOE to invest in our students, teachers, and staff by funding green, healthy, safe, and comfortable schools for children to learn and grow up in—regardless of zip code. Join us to hear from a GHS campaign member and Climate Families NYC about what the situation is in schools, what the campaign's demands are, and what action you can take to help. Register to receive the zoom link and save the date!

New: Join our Events and Giving Committee
Do you like planning events? Do you like raising money for the planet? Join us! For the health and longevity of our climate justice project, we are seeking a group of people to help support our events and giving campaigns throughout the year. Why do we need to raise money? 350Brooklyn is a financially independent project which does not receive any funding from the national organization 350.org, a common misconception. We rely on individual donations and grants to keep 350Brooklyn running and need a team who can make those happen! Please email [email protected] to get involved.
Join Power Hour: You gotta fight, for your right, for climate action!
Mondays from 12-1pm
Just have an hour or two a week to fight the good fight? No problem! Join us every Monday, and some Wednesdays, for Power Hour on zoom. Each week we call our representatives, email our legislators, and write letters to the editor to push for specific climate legislation. Right now we’re focused on contacting our electeds about the Climate Change Superfund Act!
Wake up Jane Fraser!
January 27th, 2024 at 9 am
Join Climate Families NYC to give Citi CEO Jane Fraser a wake up call! Citi is fuelling the climate crisis, and has funneled $332 billion+ to fossil fuels since 2016, including more than $15 billion to Exxon. Pushing banks like Citi to strengthen their fossil fuel financing policies and climate commitments is a big part of ending the era of fossil fuels. Which is why families are showing up at the Pier 25 Playground to send a message to Citi’s CEO, Jane Fraser, with a noise and toys themed action. Come and support our kids and make some noise on their behalf. Bring your instruments, bring pots and pans, and bring your friends and family! RSVP through Action Network.
350Brooklyn field trip: The Climate Museum!
February 3rd, 2024 1:30 pm
Join other 350Brooklynites for a free group tour of the “End Fossil Fuel” show at The Climate Museum in Soho. Time Out calls this “one of the best museum exhibitions in NYC right now.” If we’re feeling inspired, we’ll continue on to “We Tried to Warn You: Environmental Crisis Posters, 1970-2020” at Poster House in Chelsea. Please RSVP to [email protected].
FROM OUR FRIENDS AND ALLIES
Join action in D.C. against massive fossil fuel buildout!
February 6th-8th, 2024 at 2 pm
Join Bill McKibben, Third Act, frontline leaders, and national allies in three days of nonviolent civil disobedience at the Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. The goal is to push Secretary Jennifer Granholm to stop approving new Liquified Natural Gas terminals, including the CP2 project in Southwest Louisiana! This is the largest fossil fuel buildout in the world and it’s up to Jennifer Granholm to stop it. The fossil fuel industry is planning over 20 new LNG Export facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. Just one project, the CP2 facility, has 20x the emissions of the Willow Project! We’re calling on the Department of Energy to pause all new export approvals until they do a proper analysis of LNG’s impact on our climate, communities, and US consumers. Please sign up and indicate which days you are looking to participate and if you are willing to risk arrest. Anyone engaging in civil disobedience should expect to attend a training the night before the action the following day. Check out Canary Media’s article to learn more about LNG exports.
