John,
This week, we should have been celebrating the 51st anniversary of Roe. But instead, it is yet another week where the right to an abortion is not guaranteed in nearly 50% of the states in this country.1
Ever since the Republican majority on the Supreme Court struck down the protections of Roe and overturned a half century of precedent, we have lived through the terrifying consequences:
-
21 states have banned or restricted abortion in the 18 months since Roe was overturned;
-
For millions, it has become impossible to obtain a medical exemption to such an extent that women like Katie Cox in Texas have to flee their home states in order to get lifesaving abortion care;2
-
Women who have had miscarriages have been prosecuted, as in the the case of Brittany Watts in Ohio;3
-
And Republicans are promising a nationwide abortion ban if they capture the White House and full control of Congress this November.
But we’ve also seen voters continue to reject abortion restrictions, time and time again.4 From Kentucky to Ohio to Virginia, from the 2022 midterms to referendums in 2023, from red states to blue states and everywhere in between — wherever abortion rights have been on the ballot, voters have shown up.
The Republican Party wants to ban abortion nationwide, but we know we can stop them if our side has the resources to fight back. Will you rush a contribution of $15 or any amount to help us elect candidates in key races who will defend abortion rights in 2024?

This year, abortion rights are on the ballot. And how we and our candidates do at the polls in 2024 — from the fight for Congress to ballot initiatives and state and local elections — will determine the future of abortion rights in this country.
Let's keep up the fight,
Working Families Party
