Friends, I am sick of passing temporary spending bill after temporary spending bill — we can’t keep kicking the can down the road ad nauseam and putting Americans through fear and uncertainty every time we’re on the brink of a pointless government shutdown.
And beyond that, constantly having to pause and avert a shutdown crisis means we can’t spend as much time as we should on other critical issues!
That’s why I’m fighting for a long-term solution – to fund our government for a full year and provide Americans certainty, not a temporary band-aid fix.
I also introduced the End Shutdowns Act last fall to prevent government shutdowns and the senseless pain they inflict on federal employees, government contractors, and the millions of American families who rely on government services like Social Security and Medicare.
Now, it’s far past time to get it passed and signed into law. Will you add your name as a grassroots supporter of my bill today? Your support will help me show my colleagues in the Senate that the American people are fed up with these manufactured shutdown emergencies. [[link removed]]
People’s livelihoods — and our country’s economy — should NOT be used as a negotiating tactic for bad-faith politicians to make unreasonable demands.
I’m going to keep fighting to remove this option, keep our government open for good, and focus more on the issues that the American people sent us here to deal with. But I need to know you’re with me. Will you sign on to become a grassroots supporter of the End Shutdowns Act today? [[link removed]]
