Dear friend,
I want to talk to you about what our Congress should and shouldn’t be doing during this crisis, and how we need to work together to make sure irresponsible officials like Jason Smith are not sent back to Washington after this November.

***But first, please accept my deepest wishes that this email finds you in good health. I am a practicing clinical social worker, and while our first and foremost concern must be public health, I strongly believe we cannot neglect our mental wellbeing as we confront this truly unprecedented state of affairs. If you are experiencing difficulty coping with social distancing, or you are grieving someone you know who has been affected by the outbreak— please do not hesitate to give me a call or text at 573-200-6186, or reply to this email . This is not an empty offer. We are here for you, and I ask that you in turn reach out to someone else who may be in need to lend an ear or a helping hand.***

President Trump on Wednesday signed into law the bill that Jason Smith voted against. That law now provides Coronavirus testing free of charge, additional paid sick leave and more funding for much-needed medical supplies. Last week, Rep. Smith voted against all of these important provisions.

Now, more than ever, we need our elected officials to come together in support of working families across the country. This bill wasn’t perfect - most bills aren’t - but it was a bipartisan compromise that prioritizes the needs of working families and provides much-needed resources during this time of need. I can assure you, we will need more of this bipartisan leadership as this crisis moves forward, and clearly, Smith isn’t up to the task.

Help me send this message to Jason Smith and other Members like him: We need leaders who care about working families and are prepared to fight for help for people all across the country who are now struggling with their bills as a result of this crisis. If an elected official isn’t prepared to do that, then they don’t belong in the U.S. House of Representatives. [[link removed]]

We must continue to fight for our future while we work to maintain the present. Help fund our campaign so that we can let these dangerous politicians know that now is the time for solutions and action, not ideology. [[link removed]]
