As Colorado Attorney General, one of my core responsibilities is to be a consumer watchdog. That’s important because the sad truth is that too many businesses are willing to deceive consumers, only making things right when consumers know how to advocate effectively for themselves. Unless we get involved.
Over the last month, I took action in two important cases—one against Wyatt’s Towing for their illegal practices and another against Four Star Realty for mistreating tenants. In both cases, we used new laws that I fought for to protect consumers—the Towing Bill of Rights and a law that allowed our department to address the illegal withholding of a tenant’s security deposit.
Both cases involved a similar scenario—mistreat consumers, pay those who complain, and keep the money from those that don't. That’s just wrong. We are committed to holding irresponsible businesses accountable and protecting consumers. You can read about the Wyatt’s Towing action here and about the Four Star Realty action here.
