Hi John,

I wanted to make sure you saw Susan’s email. Susan Sarandon has been a progressive champion for decades and I am honored to have her join our growing team.

Let's be honest. It is difficult to keep campaigning during this unprecedented crisis, especially when our communities are faced with so many other immediate needs. However, the need for leaders who are willing to stand up and fight for policies that can help prevent this from happening again has never been greater. We need bold leaders who will think outside the box to pick up the pieces and help rebuild after we have weathered this crisis. What’s become apparent is that policies like Medicare for All, Paid Family Medical Leave, Paid Sick Leave, and Fair Drug Prices are not fringe ideas – they’re crisis-prevention and crisis-fighting tools. Back in 1986, I helped write the first Family Medical Leave Act in the country, right here in Maine, because people were losing their jobs when they took care of sick loved ones. I am continuing to run for the US Senate so I can fight for worker's rights and a healthcare system that serves all of us.

Ours is a strong, grass roots campaign dedicated to being in every corner of the state and meeting thousands of voters. But with the current situation, our campaign has gone digital. To reach voters where they are – online – we need to spend money. If you contribute today, your money will go toward helping us safely reach out to Mainers to get our message out. Together, we can defeat Susan Collins this November.

Thank you for your support and I hope you and your family stay safe and healthy during this difficult time.

Thank you,
Betsy Sweet

John,

Here's one thing I know: The COVID-19 pandemic has left many of us in dire straits and has made all of us uncertain. But here's another: What it's made certain is that our healthcare system needs a wholesale transformation. And my friend Betsy Sweet's been advocating for that revitalization for decades. So it's in these challenging times that we need leaders like Betsy. Those who will make sure that we're ready for the what's ahead and in the next crisis beyond. Advocates for Medicare for All, Paid Sick Leave, Paid Family Medical Leave, and Fair Drug Prices. That's why we need Betsy in the Senate.

That's why I'm asking: Can you chip in right now to help Betsy’s campaign?

The fact is the current Senator from Maine, Trump-ally Susan Collins, has been a roadblock to change. While Collins has pulled the wool over Mainers heads and cow-towed to Trump, Betsy's been on the front line delivering transformational policy. And that's how we know she'll get it done when she gets to Washington.

Betsy will help pass Medicare For All and Paid Sick Leave because she helped write and pass Maine's Family and Medical Leave Act. She'll help pass the Green New Deal because she worked to get environmental toxins out of building materials and children's toys. And she'll help pass a constitutional amendment to end Citizens United because she helped create the first Clean Elections system in the nation.

If you're as inspired by Betsy's record as I am; and if you're ready to send her to the Senate, join me with a contribution today!

I'm ready to do all I can to help Betsy beat Trump yes-woman Susan Collins. Thanks for doing your part too.

Best,

Susan Sarandon
