South Carolina congresswoman and noted spotlight lover Nancy Mace faced withering accusations of hypocrisy after she endorsed Donald Trump — the very man she previously held "accountable" for the deadly January 6, 2021, attack on Congress that nearly upended American democracy. Such sterling values! Mace announced her endorsement — one day before the New Hampshire primary — in a stinging rebuke of fellow South Carolinian Nikki Haley, the disgraced ex-president's only remaining opponent in the GOP primary. For the record, Mace, a documented rape survivor, publicly turned her back on Haley — who successfully campaigned on her behalf when Trump threw his weight behind her House primary opponent — and endorsed the accused rapist currently facing 91 criminal charges and fighting a SECOND rape defamation trial. Power is the sole currency in the modern GOP.

Supreme Court says Biden administration can remove razor wire that Texas installed along border
In a momentary fit of reason, the nation's high court ruled 5-4 to allow federal immigration agents to remove the dangerous razor wire that Texas state officials illegally set up along some sections of the US-Mexico border to discourage and ensnare migrants attempting to cross into the country unlawfully. The Biden administration successfully argued the razor wire obstructs Border Patrol's ability to process migrants who are already on American soil and to help those who may be in distress. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh voted to leave the razor wire in place, because Heartless Cruelty™ is a brand they simply cannot quit.

Israel reportedly proposes 2-month ceasefire in Gaza for release of all hostages
Israel has given Hamas a proposal through Qatari and Egyptian mediators that includes up to two months of a pause in the fighting as part of a multi-phase deal that would include the release of all remaining hostages held in Gaza, two Israeli officials said. While the proposal doesn't include an agreement to end the brutal war, it is the longest period of ceasefire that Israel has offered Hamas since the latest conflict began. More than 130 hostages are still being held in Gaza; Israeli officials believe several dozen hostages either died on October 7 or have been killed in the weeks since then. The hostages' families had to resort to storming the parliament yesterday to demand that the government do more to free their family members taken in the horrific October 7 terror attacks.

House Republicans have no meaningful achievements to run on since reclaiming the gavel in 2022, and their short stint in charge of the lower chamber has been a colossal embarrassment characterized by vicious infighting, conspiratorial show trials, and utterly unreasonable behavior. Suspect in killing of 8 people in suburban Chicago has fatally shot himself in Texas, police say
A 23-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing eight people in three different suburban Chicago locations fatally shot himself after a confrontation with law enforcement officials near Natalia, Texas, police said late Monday. While a motive is not yet known, the suspect, Romeo Nance, is believed to have known the victims of the senseless crimes. Pending autopsies will help determine how long the identified victims have been dead. This is the 24th and deadliest documented mass shooting of the new year. No word yet on when Republican thoughts and prayers will be dispersed to the families, friends, and communities of the slain.

Fake Joe Biden robocall tells New Hampshire Democrats not to vote Tuesday
The New Hampshire attorney general's office says it is investigating what appears to be an "unlawful attempt" at voter suppression after NBC News reported on a robocall impersonating President Joe Biden that told recipients not to vote in Tuesday's presidential primary. "What a bunch of malarkey," the robocall phone message begins, echoing a term Biden is fond of saying. Malarkey, indeed! Stay vigilant, folks. And when your time comes, DEFINITELY, definitely vote no matter what undemocratic chicanery Republicans and so-called conservatives sling into the fray.

As the last major challenger standing in the way of Donald Trump's death march to the Republican nomination, Nikki Haley is hoping with a whole lotta hope that New Hampshire voters feel so strongly about keeping the disgraced ex-president away from the White House that they turn out in historic numbers to support her. "America does not do coronations," Haley told Republican supporters engulfed in the throes of an appalling coronation of a serially indicted insurrectionist with zero business anywhere near the Oval Office. Not so fun fact: No Republican candidate has won Iowa and New Hampshire and NOT gone on to become the party's nominee.

Harvard's new antisemitism task force co-chair faces backlash from familiar critics
Billionaire hedge fund bozo Bill Ackman, one of the key architects in the behind-the-scenes ouster of ex-Harvard President Claudine Gay, is taking fresh swings at his alma mater, this time over appointments to a new task force charged with combating antisemitism on campus. Derek Penslar, a noted professor of Jewish history, was named co-chair of the task force. Ackman's beef? A letter Penslar signed last year along with 2,900 other academics, clergy, and Jewish public figures which said the Israeli government's purpose is to "deprive Palestinians of equal rights" and "ethnically cleanse all territories under Israeli rule of their Palestinian population." Ackman's histrionics are just the latest in the efforts of right-wing billionaires to police diversity of thought and enforce a rigid orthodoxy of acceptable statements...which just so happen to be their personal opinions.
