If we want agriculture to succeed, we must both support today’s producers and invest in the next generation. Brent Rogers, a corn farmer in Sheridan County, embodies this ideal. On top of running his own farm, Brent is an active leader in his community and is committed to helping other agricultural producers succeed. Brent works tirelessly to ensure that Kansas agriculture continues to thrive. That is why he is this month's Kansas Ag Hero.
Brent was born and raised in Hoxie, Kansas. As a junior and senior in high school, he first experienced working in agriculture while helping his grandfather and uncle on the family farm and at his father’s fertilizer business. Brent attended Colby Community College and Fort Hays State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business. When one of his grandfather’s neighbors retired, Brent took over his land and began building Double R Farms. Today, Brent, his wife Jodi, and their two daughters grow wheat, corn, and fallow, and co-manage a cow-calf operation. In 2018, Brent joined the Kansas Corn Growers Association (KCGA) board, representing corn farmers in the northwest part of the state, and in 2020 he was elected KCGA President. As KCGA President, he advocates on behalf of Kansas corn farmers across the state.
