GLAAD

Dear Friend,

Last week was a big week for GLAAD! After accepting the iconic Governors Award at the Emmys, we released the nominations for our 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards (GMAs). The GMAs are the most visible celebration of our mission to honor media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues, and this year’s nominations are as diverse and inclusive as ever with 310 nominees across 33 categories.

Despite the LGBTQ community facing attacks by false narratives and misinformation, this year’s nominees powerfully reflect the realities of the full spectrum of LGBTQ existence today, in our communities and around the globe.

And with hateful and harmful legislation targeting the LGBTQ community at an all time high, it is more important than ever to celebrate and uplift the hard work of the journalists, artists, activists, and creators working to tell impactful queer stories to the world.

Nominees at this year’s ceremonies include “All of Us Strangers,” “Bottoms,” “The Color Purple,” “Despierta America,” “Fellow Travelers,” “Heartstopper,” “Kokomo City,” “The Last of Us,” “Our Flag Means Death,” “Red, White and Royal Blue,” “Rustin,” “Sin Huellas,” and “Yellowjackets” just to name a few.

It’s easy to demonize and vilify who and what you don’t understand. The GMAs amplify messages of hope and queer joy to a global audience, and are an essential part of our work to humanize the LGBTQ community. We’ll be back at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, on Thursday March 14th and in New York City at the Midtown Hilton, Saturday May 11th.

Mark your calendars -- Tickets go live on our website, Wednesday, January 31st!
